The Halfway House offers those who struggle in society the hope of reintegration. A small residential hub, the house is a long-stay therapy centre aimed at helping those with anxiety and agoraphobia. An outlier to the new settlement, it is reached by a river path at low tide or via boat to a small docking station when the tide is high.
The entire construction, including its structure and finish, is made of local Norfolk timber. The piles form a causeway space connecting and continuing into each room. Each building celebrates the material, slowly weathering with constant abrasion from the salt-laden environment. By 2050, silvered and weathered, the rooms will disappear into the rush-laden landscape.
