The project is located in the heart of Lewisham Market, creating a new public space for Lewisham High Street that celebrates Lewisham’s diversity, culture, and community. The museum seeks to create the antithesis to the typical Western colonial style, focusing on 'making' activities from the Global South. The workshop, where users can print their own fabrics, is inspired by Ankara, a traditional wax printing technique found in Guyanese and West African communities. These fabrics can then be exhibited or traded. This encourages users to tell their own stories and elevates the cultures of Lewisham’s migrant communities.
