Situated in Rainham Marshes, the building aims to act as a point of convergence point between the marsh and the Thames. Respecting the boundaries of rich biodiversity and ecological habitats, it nestles in the shallow landscape by the Thames tide line. The surrounding demographic nurtures both the young and old. While natural, Rainham’s landscape has changed over the years and is curated in accordance with the needs of the people.

The nature reserve in the marshes draws a distinct line between administrative activity and the appreciation of the landscape. In contrast with the open landscape, the building is encapsulated with thick earth walls. It creates an enclosure that opens up spaces for various lighting conditions, calibrated to complement artists' works. Creating a quiet transition between public and private spaces, a gentle slope runs along the shallow landscape, serving as a gesture that aims to guide us seamlessly from one space into another.
