Studio 1.2 - Carnival - Performative Exhibition

Project details

Programme
Year 1
Tutors Dave Edwards,  Melis van den Berg,  Maria Moratta and Daniel Linham

Studio 1.2 was interested in the intersection between the digital and the physical. They used digital fabrication tools to speed up production and utilised digital media to test ideas that would not be feasible with pen and paper. In this post-digital age, the power of computing can optimise and hybridise designs against real world constraints and develop new possibilities. In this spirit, the proposals test structure, material or environmental performance in both its conception and in the final output.

Spark of Life is an interactive pavilion representing the change of seasons, blossoming and the festivity of the carnival through movement and organic shapes.

The Weight of Water combines the concept of wind flow, water flow and sensory experience. Seven different objects were created by using bio-plastic, fabric and bio-steel stick.
