The Earth Eon Museum invites visitors to embark on a captivating journey through the depths of time by guiding them through the different strata of the Earth in chronological order, repurposing 20th-century Millennium Mills in the Royal Docks.
The journey begins on the ground floor, where visitors encounter the oldest stratum of Earth's history—the Hadean era. As they progress upward, floor by floor, they traverse the remaining eons (Archean, Proterozoic, Paleozoic, Mesozoic and Cenozoic), encountering the various geological periods within them that have unfolded throughout time. Despite the narrow, cave-like and labyrinthine nature of the space, the circulation is carefully designed to ensure an intuitive navigation experience. To represent the timescale of each space, the size of each eon and period correlates to the percentage of time that period occupies within the history of Earth.
