The Siesta Hub, Barcelona's Sleep District

Project details

Programme
Unit Unit 4
Year 4

Barcelona's Sleep District aims to revolutionise sustainable living and sleep habits while preserving the city's heritage. By retrofitting and expanding nineteenth-century industrial buildings, it seeks to create a visionary "Mansion of Care", harnessing social and personal rituals. The project envisions a national model for improving sleep health, rallying government and industry experts to invest in a state-of-the-art sleeping lab. The masterplan prioritises productive rest and wellness, with a layout promoting effortless circulation and convenient access. Furthermore, the design creates a serene ambiance, evoking calm, and tranquillity. By repurposing existing buildings, preserving heritage, and championing wellness, the project aligns with Barcelona's commitment to zero carbon emissions by 2050.

The project embodies hope for a brighter future. By championing wellness, adaptability, and sustainability, this scheme offers a model for promoting healthy living and improving sleep health worldwide. With wellness as our guiding light, we can reimagine structures, preserve heritage, and forge a path toward a more sustainable world — one restful night at a time.
