This Project works within an existing abandoned structure, located underneath Branko's Bridge, which crosses the Sava River in Belgrade. The design brings together three groups of users: filmmakers, actors and the public. The layout choreographs how these users meet in curated locations where the opportunity for capturing certain film shots arises, facilitated by the surrounding architecture. This experience aims to teach the intricacies and realities of making film. Alongside creating this link between filmmakers and actors, the proposal provides both a public common room and a cinema for the community.
The building aims to provide the community with the necessary skills to express themselves through film. The Yugoslav film industry bloomed as rapidly as it declined, but there was a real sense of pride expressed through film during its heyday. The programme allows the community to celebrate and embrace this cultural heritage, sharing it with one another and the world, one film shot at a time.
