The House of Jewellery, located in Lewisham, draws inspiration from the Guyanese diaspora. The country's relationship with migration is reflected in its rich cultural heritage and architecture and is also prominent in the country’s gold jewellery. This project proposes a jewellery-making workshop; an exhibition space; a jewellery shop including a learning room; and a nursery. The focus is on enabling local (migrant) women to learn new skills to enter the job market. The project aims to create a new story for Lewisham’s proud activist history, celebrating and providing the opportunity and space for developing craft and skills.
