The project focuses on an industrial zone located in the heart of Park Royal, West London. In 2026, with the newly proposed HS2 ‘super-hub’ station, the area will begin to be developed and the existing warehouses will be demolished. In an effort to preserve the nature of the site, a master plan explores the potential of re-using the existing light industrial structures. The project focuses on one key building which will act as a precedent for the rest of the master plan in the future.
The building focuses on Module D of the RICS carbon assessment guidelines and proposes an inventive way of reusing the existing light industrial structures. Throughout the design process, carbon data is collated in order to assess the viability of various proposed scenarios.
The programme seeks to redevelop the corner of an existing warehouse to provide a vibrant and rejuvenating co-living tower for the workers of the warehouse. The design language showcases the connection between the buildings through the façade, while also contrasting the internal conditions to provide comfort.
