Located on the intersection between a landfill and the picturesque Rainham Marshes, the building acts as a stage where the roles of the audience, actor and building are constantly negotiated and transformed.
‘The stage’ represents the architectural structure that serves as a platform for the project. It provides the setting and framework for the interactions and experiences that unfold within its boundaries.
‘The staged’ emphasises the significance of ongoing interactions, events, and narratives within and around the building. It recognises that architecture is not static but rather a backdrop for human life.
The project was developed through an open-ended-making methodology. It embraces the process, exploring various possibilities and uncovering the potential of a space beyond its initial design intentions.
