Wardrobe Wonderland is an innovative project based in Shoreditch’s Brick Lane, renowned for its rich fashion history. With a strong focus on sustainable fashion, the project aims to create a dynamic space that connects consumers, fashion artisans, and ethical fashion brands, fostering meaningful friendships through fashion.
At the same time, the project stands as a powerful response to gentrification in the area, countering a proposed shopping mall development that received thousands of local objections, preserving the local cultural heritage.
At its core, the project serves as a vibrant hub where individuals come together to collaborate, learn, and interact, nurturing a sense of belonging within the community. The concept of a shared wardrobe takes centre stage, allowing individuals to borrow and explore each other’s clothing, promoting a more sustainable and inclusive approach to fashion.
By seamlessly integrating recycled fabric - such as repurposed tarpaulin - as the prominent building materials, the project showcases the transformative potential of fashion in sustainable design, while exploring the concept of turning trash into architectural innovations.
