Aural/Temporal Landscapes

Project details

Concerned with the impact of regeneration projects wherein urban spaces are redeveloped into ‘creative factories’ detached from the human scale, this project attempts to address how data-driven landscapes could be an integral part of regeneration proposals. Questioning the biennale typology in Venice, in terms of its influence on the local population, waste generation/disposal, and the relevance of expo-type national pavilions, the project seeks to develop a long-term parallel alternative proposal for London, in the form of a phygital arts centre in the Docklands.

The landscape design responds to the unique noise conditions of the site, its adjacency to the airport, as well as potential flooding in future London, allowing snippets of nature to again occupy parts of the urban landscape, while the main building itself caters to a variety of interior conditions for exhibitions and learning, both physical and digital. Through exploring digital landscapes at a masterplan level, the project hopes to speculate on newer forms of hybrid, green-space typologies within the dense, noisy fabric of the city.
