Found in The Forest, located on the cusp of Greenwich's Bostall Heath Forest, challenges the boundaries of foraging culture. The sloped site connects suburbia with nature, fostering synergy between the local community and the forest, both programmatically and materially. Structures are built using foraged organic timber and straw, facilitating dining and art production in response to the forest's yield. The project harmoniously materialises with the forest's timber resources.
Structural interventions and varying levels of landscaping are incorporated within the slope, gradually decreasing as the forest is approached. This design approach allows the wild landscape to flourish and seamlessly intertwine with the structures.
Architectural and landscape interventions sustain the forest's wildness, embracing growth, foraging and transformation within structures, extending the harmonious network between forest and suburb.
The detail exhibits the subtle cohabitation of the natural landscape and landscaping initiatives, deconstructing the delineation between them and allowing the wilderness to flourish.
The building forages locally for primary materials, using timber from the forest and straw from nearby farms.
In the library courtyard, intricate details highlight landscaping techniques that seamlessly integrate the library structure, transitional spaces and diverse landscaping formats, forming a cohesive space.
