This CLT is a sanctuary designed to support and empower zero-hour contract workers. It is located within the vibrant community of Cable Street and Shadwell. The CLT defies the soulless nature of modern employment by providing essential facilities and fostering a sense of belonging. It also serves as a space for restoration, nourishment and social mobility. Moreover, it recognises the importance of maintaining a sense of rurality within an urban setting and critiques the pervasive impact of invasive gentrification in London. Through communal areas, the CLT promotes the development of skills, particularly in cooking and facilitates personal growth. This enables workers to regain control over their lives and the products they create. Ultimately, the CLT stands as a symbol of resilience, solidarity and the potential for positive change within the realms of work and society.
