The modern world is characterised by an acceleration of human activities, with communication and socialisation increasingly shifting to virtual spaces instead of physical ones. This trend has been further amplified by the global pandemic, which has necessitated the reliance on virtual means of interaction. As a result, many cultures centered around time-consuming activities are being eroded, as people increasingly prefer quick and effortless tasks.
In response to this phenomenon and with the aim of fostering social cohesion among students and faculty, the proposed installation titled Shades of Slowness seeks to promote a deliberate embrace of slowness and the revival of tea culture. Situated at Wilkins terrace, this installation is specifically designed to encourage students to slow down and actively participate in the construction process, thereby nurturing a sense of community. By creating a space that values the slow and intentional process of creation, the installation aims to promote an alternative way of life that prioritises reflection and meaningful connections with others.
